            Appointment of Stephen Makin as Chief Financial Officer

The Board of Umbro Plc (the "Group") is pleased to announce the appointment of
Stephen Makin to the Board as Chief Financial Officer.

Stephen, aged 36 and a member of the Chartered Institute of Management
Accountants, has been at Asda and Wal-Mart since 1991 holding various positions
both in the UK and abroad. He was based in Germany for Wal-Mart for 2 years from
2000 - 2002 serving as Director of Controlling.

He was then appointed Commercial Finance Director in February 2003 with
responsibility for Strategic and Business Planning, Business Development,
Commercial Finance and Financial Control and Accounting. In August 2004 he was
promoted to the Operating Board of Asda.

Stephen will succeed Geoff Haslehurst at the beginning of August 2006.

Commenting on today's appointment, Peter McGuigan, Umbro Chief Executive, said:

"We are pleased that Stephen is joining us. He brings a wealth of experience in
financial management, business development and strategic planning and will be a
strong addition to our current management team during this exciting growth

We would like to thank Geoff Haslehurst for his contribution to the development

In accordance with Chapter 16.4 of the Listing Rules, no further details are
