Planning Consent

Novera Energy PLC
07 May 2008

Novera Energy plc ('Novera' or the 'Company')

Planning Consent for A'Chruach Wind Farm

The Board of Novera is pleased to announce that Argyll and Bute Council has
today unanimously approved the Company's 20-turbine A'Chruach Wind Farm in
Argyll, Scotland, approximately 5km west of Minard. Depending on turbine
selection, A'Chruach's capacity range will be 40-46MW and it will be the
Company's largest wind farm to date and its first consented wind site in

The wind farm will be constructed on land owned by Forestry Commission Scotland
(FCS). Novera and FCS have agreed commercial terms for use of the land and
expect to sign option and lease agreements soon. The consent is subject to
conditions which have been agreed with Argyll and Bute Council and the
finalisation of a Section 75 Planning Agreement with the Council. A grid offer
from National Grid is expected for A'Chruach next month. Novera currently
expects A'Chruach to be in production in 2010 or 2011 and to contribute to its
existing target of 250MW of wind power in operation by the end of 2011.

Novera's consented wind portfolio has now reached 85-91MW comprising one 15MW
operational farm, a further 30MW under construction and the 40-46MW A'Chruach
Wind Farm. In addition, the Company has four further sites in planning with an
aggregate potential capacity of 54-59MW, all of which are expected to receive
planning decisions this year. Novera is also pursuing a portfolio of other wind
development opportunities and is confident in meeting its 250MW target.

The Company is currently undertaking a tender process for turbines for its
expanding portfolio and thereafter anticipates placing a turbine order.

Commenting on the decision, David Fitzsimmons, Chief Executive Officer of
Novera, said: "This is an excellent result by our wind development team to
achieve planning consent so quickly and underlines the emphasis we have placed
on consultation with the local community and key stakeholders. In particular, I
would like to thank the dedicated teams we have worked closely with at Scottish
Natural Heritage, the Forestry Commission Scotland and the Planning Department
of Argyll and Bute Council, for their thorough and tirelessly efficient
consideration of the proposal.

This positive decision represents an important step in the development of
Novera's wind portfolio. I look forward to the planning decisions expected over
the coming months and to submitting applications for further high quality sites
on which we are currently working."

In relation to Novera's current potential offer situation, the Board of Novera,
which is being advised by Oriel Securities Limited, continues to recommend
shareholders to take no action at this time.

A'Chruach Wind Farm

The Wind Farm will be in an area of commercial forestry, approximately 5km west
north-west of Minard and 10km north north-east of Lochgilphead in Mid Argyll,
Scotland. The twenty-turbine proposal is expected to have a generation capacity
of between 40 and 46MW and has been under development since 2005. The layout
proposed has been the result of the environmental studies undertaken over the
last 18 months and consultations with a wide range of people and organisations
including the local planning department and residents in the area.

Novera expects to start construction of the wind farm in 2010 with commercial
operation commencing later that year or 2011. When fully operational, the
A'Chruach Wind Farm will generate enough renewable electricity for 25,720 homes
*, representing 64% of the population of Argyll and Bute.

* Based on 4,700kWh average annual household electricity consumption,
recommended by BWEA and sourced from BERR (previously DTI) Digest of UK Energy
Statistics, 2005).
