Capita awarded managed services contract for Civil Service training

Capita plc today announces that it has been selected by the Cabinet Office to
exclusively manage the provision of training across the Civil Service. Through
the contract Capita will deliver just under half of the training directly and
will be responsible for managing the balance of 51% through a network of
specialist, small and medium sized (SME) training providers. The contract is
expected to make a significant contribution to the projected £90m per annum
savings which Civil Service Learning (CSL), the government's training agency,
is tasked to deliver. Capita anticipates that it will generate revenues of at
least £50m per annum over the next 2 years.

Capita will work with CSL to achieve its objectives, including the reduction of
duplication in procurement and the number of similar courses. It will also
ensure that development costs are not being paid multiple times for the same
products, daily rates are standardised across similar courses with the same
supplier, and utilisation of courses is increased.

Paul Pindar, Capita plc chief executive said: "The training contract will
enable public sector organisations to access quality learning and development
services, which provide value for money and support the delivery of excellent
public service. Combining innovative, blended learning solutions, managed by
Capita and delivered both by Capita and a broad range of SMEs, the Civil
Service can look forward to a common curriculum, reduced duplication and a far
more efficient process for procuring learning services."

Announcing the contract, Francis Maude, Minister for the Cabinet Office said:
"The contract is the latest step in our radical training overhaul to support
the transformation of the Civil Service into a more modern and dynamic
organisation. Capita submitted a competitive bid and will play a crucial role
as the prime contractor. The company is showing real leadership by pioneering
this new approach and committing to working with its supply chain to find the
best value and innovation the learning and development market has to offer."

Jerry Arnott, Director of Civil Service Learning said: "Through working with
the open market, we also expect to gain more flexible access to a range of
solutions that will improve the overall quality of training provision across
the Civil Service."
