Inspired Energy was also referenced as a strong influencer in the consolidation of the I&C TPI market with the recent acquisitions of ECM and SystemsLink highlighted.

This report is based on the opinions of business energy suppliers which reinforces to the Group's strong positioning within the TPI market and that it's development and growth strategy is well received.

Gareth Miller,  CEO of Cornwall Insight,  commented: "TPIs are responding to rising competition across the market through transactions, better technology and utilising their expertise beyond the transactional nature of brokering energy supply contracts. Following its recent acquisitions and wider market activity, Inspired Energy has been successful in moving to first place in our Q118 I&C TPI  index."

Cornwall Insight report methodology

The Cornwall Insight team has significant experience of the non-domestic energy supply markets including the TPI sector, which it has actively developed to support its existing market intelligence services.  It has supplemented this knowledge base for the report analysis by:

•     Researching TPI company structure and financial information from media and press statements and Companies House

•     Providing TPIs the opportunity to comment on their individual profiles wherever possible. No charge is made for covering TPIs in this survey

•     Adding this information to existing knowledge to create a headline market segmentation by energy volumes purchased or contracts negotiated and services offered

•     Confidentially discussing their views on sector trends with informed contacts in the industry and developing their thoughts on potential developments in the sector

•     Deriving a unique methodology for the Cornwall Insight TPI Indexes that assess the scale of the larger TPIs in the SME and I&C markets

•     Assimilating this information and developing the implications for TPIs, consumers and suppliers
