Ashtead Group Plc, traded as AHT on the London Stock Exchange (LSE), is a British industrial equipment rental company.

Founded in 1947 in the village of Ashtead, Surrey, as Ashtead Plant and Tool Hire, it has grown into a leading provider of non-manned equipment rental services.

The company was formed as a vehicle to acquire what was then a five-branch business trading in the south-east of England with revenues of £1m.

It listed on the LSE in 1986. Ashtead is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index on the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).

Over the years, Ashtead has made several acquisitions, including Sunbelt Rentals in 19902, thereby doubling the size of Sunbelt Rentals. Today, it operates more than 350 branch locations, which Ashtead calls ‘Profit Centres’, situated in the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Far East.
