Commenting on the appointment, Lord Oxburgh of Liverpool, Chairman of D1 Oils
plc said:

'We are delighted that a distinguished scientist of the calibre of Christopher
Leaver has agreed to join our Board. Christopher's experience in the field of
plant science, and in particular in plant development and genetics, will be an
invaluable addition to the research and development programme for our principal
feedstock crop, Jatropha curcas. Jatropha is an under-developed inedible oil
crop that offers enormous potential for the development of sustainable biodiesel
production. Understanding the breadth and diversity of its genetic
characteristics will be vital to realising that potential and ensuring that it
can be harnessed sustainably, and Christopher has much to contribute in this
regard.'
