APPOINTMENT OF SPONSOR AND MOVE TO AIM

The Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Brewin Dolphin
Securities (Birmingham) as the Company's Sponsor and Financial Adviser with
immediate effect.

In addition, the Board, after careful consideration, proposes to move the
trading of the Company's shares from the Official List of the UK Listing
Authority to the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange plc
('AIM'). The Board considers that AIM would provide a regulatory framework more
appropriate to a company of F W Thorpe's size.

A circular explaining the implications of the move to AIM and giving notice of
an extraordinary general meeting to approve a resolution for the de-listing of
the Company's shares from the Official List will be sent to shareholders in the
near future.
