Closed Period Notification Announcement

TEMPLETON EMERGING MARKETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

("The Company")

In accordance with the Market Abuse Regulation, the Company announces that it has today entered into a closed period, which will remain in place until the Company releases its half yearly financial results for the period ended 30^th September 2016.

The Directors of the Company confirm that they are satisfied that all inside information that the Directors and the Company have, up until the date of this notice, has been notified to a Regulated Information Service. If, in the period leading up to the announcement of the half yearly results for the period ended 30^th September 2016, the Directors of the Company or any person discharging managerial responsibilities come into possession of any inside information, this will be notified to a Regulated Information Service before the Company undertakes any dealings in the Company's own securities. The Company is therefore not prohibited from repurchasing its own securities, or issuing new securities, during this closed period.
