           NICHOLAS DAVIES APPOINTED BOARD DIRECTOR

Allen  Plc,  the  construction services group,  has  appointed
Nicholas Davies as an Executive Director and Managing Director
of Allen's Building Contracting Division.

Mr.  Davies,  aged  39, a fellow of the Royal  Institution  of
Chartered  Surveyors,  who is currently Managing  Director  of
Mansell  Maintenance Services Ltd ('Mansell') and a member  of
the  Mansell  Group's Operating Board.  He is responsible  for
its operations throughout the UK from 7 regional offices.

From  1983 - 1999 he held a number of senior positions at Hall
&  Tawse  prior to its acquisition by Mansell and in 1997  was
appointed   Managing  Director  of  its  Eastern  Construction
Region, controlling a business with an annual turnover of  £65
million  covering  the  Midlands, East  Anglia  and  the  Home
Counties.

Mr. Davies will be taking over from Mike Wormald, who will  be
retiring at the end of July, at the time of the Annual General
Meeting.
