                      Death of SOCO Non-Executive Chairman


It is with great regret that the Board of SOCO has to report that Patrick
Maugein, Non-Executive Chairman of SOCO, passed away yesterday after an extended
illness.


The Board expects to announce the appointment of a new Non-Executive Chairman at
the scheduled directors meeting on Thursday, 7 December 2006.
