NORTHERN VENTURE TRUST PLC ('The Company')

PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES


The Company announces that on 13 March 2006 it purchased for cancellation under
an existing authority granted by shareholders 34,962 ordinary shares of 25p each
in the market at a price of 72.9p, representing approximately 0.09 per cent of
the Company's issued ordinary share capital.  There remain 38,973,040 ordinary
shares in issue.
