Met Tests Demonstrate High Grade Vanadium Recoveries

Jangada Mines plc, a natural resources company, is pleased to announce encouraging initial results of Davis Tube Recovery ('DTR') tests on vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite samples from its 100%-owned Pitombeiras Vanadium Project ('Pitombeiras') in Brazil.

Highlights

·    Initial DTR tests over two drill samples demonstrate that the magnetite hosted vanadium mineralisation responds very well to magnetic separation

·    Mass recovery of magnetic fractions from two samples were 59% and 62% with concentrate grades greater than 1.2% V2O5and 95% Fe2O3. High TiO2 grade concentrate (> 30%) was obtained on the non-magnetic fraction.

·    Results also establish that the magnetic recoveries produce a low SiO2 and low Al2O3 product

·    Significant upgrades of the Fe and V2O5 content confirm that the magnetite is a Fe-V complex amenable to magnetic separation yielding a product of potentially economic grades

A JORC (2012) compliant CPR is already underway on Pitombeiras, which is expected to be completed by the Company during October 2019. The initial results from the DTR tests will form part of the basis of this report.

Brian McMaster, Chairman of Jangada, said: "These preliminary Davis Tube Recovery results are highly encouraging. The ore's response to magnetic separation is very impressive and with such high grades being returned we are extremely encouraged to continue the test work on a larger scale. Additional metallurgical tests are planned to be performed including larger bulk samples collected from the current known magnetite zone"

Further Information

The Company has received initial results from DTR tests that were carried out by SGS Geosol laboratory, located in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.  These demonstrated that the vanadium-bearing magnetite samples from Pitombeiras respond very well to magnetic separation and produce magnetic fractions rich in vanadium and iron and non-magnetic fractions enriched in titanium, which is a typical characteristic of Vanadiferous Titanomagnetite ("VTM") deposits, whereby vanadium is closely associated with magnetite concentrations and titanium associated with ilmenite.

DTR tests are considered to be a suitable simulation of industrial wet magnetic separation, which is currently applied at about 90% of operations globally, whereby the magnetic separation is used to concentrate ore before milling, roasting, leaching, precipitation and fusion to produce a saleable vanadium flake.

The mass recovery of the magnetic fractions from two samples were 59% and 62% with vanadium grades yielding 1.26% and 1.23% V2O5 plus 95.4% and 94.2 Fe2O3, respectively. The non-magnetic fraction returned enriched in titanium dioxide with 33.8% and 33.7% TiO2.

The results also establish that the magnetic recoveries produce a low SiO2 and low Al2O3 product. Significant upgrades of the Fe and V2O5 content confirm that the magnetite is a Fe-V complex amenable to magnetic separation yielding a product of potentially economic grades.
