Genus plc ('the Company')

Treasury Shares

The Company announces that today it has purchased a further 66,829 ordinary
shares of 10p each at 262.5p per share for holding as Treasury.

Today's purchase arises from 152 smaller shareholders who have tendered their
shares for sale in to the voluntary buy-back scheme.

The issued share capital of the Company is 36,561,542 shares including 943,654
(2.58%) Treasury shares.

For reporting purposes under section 198 of the Companies Act 1985 the market
should exclude any shares held in treasury and should use a figure of 35,617,888
shares.
