Burford Capital Appoints Mark Klein as General Counsel

September 12, 2017 - Burford Capital ("Burford"), a leading global finance firm focused on law, has appointed Mark Klein as its General Counsel, effective immediately. Mr. Klein will be based in Burford's New York office.

A graduate of New York University School of Law, Mr. Klein has extensive experience providing in-house legal expertise in the financial services industry, working with companies from a global banking giant to a US registered investment advisor.

Mr. Klein spent 13 years at UBS in a wide range of corporate roles. From 2008 to 2013, after holding a variety of other in-house roles at UBS from 2000 to 2008, he was Managing Director and General Counsel of Infrastructure & Private Equity, where he worked on all aspects of the business, from structuring and marketing regulated funds through to executing the acquisitions on behalf of those funds.  Most recently, he was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at Marketfield Asset Management, a large US registered investment adviser.

He began his career in private practice at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he worked on public and private mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital markets and securities law, among other areas.
