International Tender - Update

The International Tender seeking subscribers for the 206,884,792 new BT shares
(the 'Sale Shares') for which valid acceptances were not received is currently
under way and is expected to close at 4.00 pm (London time) today.

Cazenove & Co. Ltd and Merrill Lynch International, the Joint Bookrunners,
wish to announce that at 2.00 pm (London time) bids had been received for an
aggregate number of 450 million shares.

These bids have been received at prices between 400p and 452p.

At 2.00 pm, the book was oversubscribed at the 430p level.
