BT CALLS TO MOBILE PHONES
BT today announced that the cost of calling mobile phones
from BT lines will increase from December 1, by at most a
penny per minute.
The changes follow substantial reductions made by BT
on the calls earlier in the year and will still leave
them much lower than they were twelve months ago.
The detailed changes are:
Prices in pence per minute, including VAT.

A BT spokesman said: 'In April this year we cut the
cost of calling mobile phones from BT lines by an average
of more than 25 per cent. Those lower prices reflected
lower costs and reduced payments to BT Cellnet and
Vodafone that BT had agreed following the 1998 enquiry by
the then Monopolies and Mergers Commission (MMC).
'However, costs have not fallen as rapidly as
predicted and this minor adjustment is needed to cover
those costs and enable further network investment.'
These price changes do not affect customers who have
joined the new BT Together scheme, which starts next
Monday, nor prices for business customers on the BT
Customer Commitment schemes.
