                              Director Appointment



The Bankers Investment Trust PLC announce a new director appointment to the
Board.



Mr R R J Burns will be appointed a non-executive director of the Company with
effect from 24 February 2006.  Richard Burns, who is 59, is joint senior partner
of Baillie Gifford and currently the fund manager of Monks Investment Trust plc.
 He is also currently a director of Mid Wynd International Investment Trust plc
and EP Global Opportunities Trust PLC.  He is also Chairman of Euronova European
Smaller  Companies Fund, a hedge fund.  He was a former director of The Baillie
Gifford Japan Trust plc.  Richard will be relinquishing his fund management
duties and retiring from Baillie Gifford in April 2006.



There is no other information to be disclosed under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R in
respect of Mr Burns.



Commenting on the new appointment Richard Brewster the Chairman of Bankers said
'His extensive knowledge of global markets and overall investment trust
experience will be of great benefit to our Company.'
