Balfour Beatty plc ("the Company") received notice today from Citigroup Global Transaction Services, on behalf of Standard Life Investments Limited ("Standard Life"), that Standard Life now hold 33,926,812 50p Ordinary Shares in the Company ("Ordinary Shares"), representing 4.94% of the total voting rights of the Company.

Of the 33,926,812 Ordinary Shares, the Company has been advised that 21,880,571 (3.183%) comprise a direct interest in the Company's total voting rights and that 12,046,241 (1.753%) comprise an indirect interest in the Company's total voting rights.
