                           TRANSFER OF TREASURY SHARES

Amlin plc ('Amlin') announces that on 10 September 2008 it transferred from
treasury to participants in its employee share option scheme(s), the following
number of its ordinary shares of 28.125 pence each ('ordinary shares'):

30,000 ordinary shares at an exercise price of 108.54 pence per share

Following the above transfer of shares out of treasury, Amlin holds a total of
10,569,431 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 468,004,008 ordinary
shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
