Sub: Disclosure under Regulations 30 and 51 of Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015

 

This has reference to our earlier disclosures dated July 4, 2025, August 8, 2025, August 19, 2025 and September 5, 2025 regarding material litigation relating to the Sukinda Chromite Block of Tata Steel Limited ('Company').

 

Background:

 

As informed in the aforementioned disclosures, on July 3, 2025, the Company had received a Demand Letter issued by the Office of Deputy Director of Mines, Jajpur ('Demand Letter'), raising a demand of ₹1902,72,53,760/-, in connection with revised assessment of shortfall in dispatch of minerals from the Company's Sukinda Chromite Block, for the fourth year in terms of Mine Development and Production Agreement (i.e., July 23, 2023 through July 22, 2024) in alleged violation of Rule 12-A of the Minerals (Other than Atomic and Hydro Carbons Energy Minerals) Concession Rules, 2016 ('MCR 2016'), and consequent appropriation of performance security.

 

The Company, on August 8, 2025, had filed Writ petition (Civil) No. 22431 of 2025 before the Hon'ble High Court of Orissa at Cuttack ('Hon'ble High Court') inter alia seeking quashing of the Demand Letter. The matter was heard by the Hon'ble High Court on August 14, 2025, and the Writ Petition filed by the Company was tagged with Writ Petitions raising similar and identical issues pending before the Hon'ble High Court. Further, the Hon'ble High Court had also restrained the opposite parties/authorities from taking any coercive step ('interim protection') till the next date of hearing of this matter which was scheduled to be held on September 2, 2025. The said interim order was further extended by the Hon'ble High Court on September 2, 2025, and the interim protection was extended till the next date of hearing scheduled to be held on October 9, 2025.

 



 

Present Status:

 

The Hon'ble High Court heard the matter on October 9, 2025, and based on the order copy made available today, i.e. October 13, 2025, the Company hereby informs that the Hon'ble High Court has posted the matter for hearing on November 6, 2025. The interim protection is extended till the next date of hearing.

 

This disclosure is being made by the Company in compliance with Regulations 30 and 51 read with Schedule III of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
