WH Smiths

The global travel retailer which recently sold off its high street operations in the UK announced this morning that it would appoint the experienced CEO of listed companies Leo Quinn as Executive Chairman. The incoming CEO brings with him a wealth of experience in terms of transforming international businesses and the market has been quick to applaud the news, with the WH Smiths share price adding more than 10% shortly after the open.

Endeavour Mining

Major gold producer Endeavour saw its share price lurch higher once again at the open, following the latest pontifications from Donald Trump over his ambitions to acquire Greenland. The tariff threat is now being measured against economic retaliation from the EU and the uncertainty is favouring the safe haven of gold. With the precious metal careering out to new all time highs as a result, Endeavour was finding support and the stock was up 2.5% in early trade.

Ashtead Technology Holdings

A full year trading update from Ashtead Technology, the provider of subsea technology solutions to the offshore energy sector, gave investors something to cheer as the new week got underway. Expectations are now that the full year revenues will be 21% higher and the EBITDA margin figure will come in at the upper end of the group’s medium term target. The company’s expansion plans are clearly yielding results and the Ashtead Technology share price was 14% higher by 8.30am.
