                           Purchase of Own Securities

Man Group plc announces that on 1 December 2006 it purchased for cancellation
2,000,000 of its ordinary shares at a price of 471.30 pence per ordinary share.

Since the start of the financial year on 1 April 2006, Man has repurchased
37,747,507 ordinary shares at a total cost of £164.4 million, giving an average
repurchase cost of 435.55 pence per ordinary share.
