TT Electronics jumps on stronger outlook

TT Electronics was in demand in early trade after reporting strong first half profit growth, margin expansion and, crucially, an improved full year outlook. The electronics manufacturer said performance across its key end markets supported a better than expected first half, with management highlighting operational progress and improved profitability.

The market responded positively, with TTG shares moving higher in early dealings after the update, reversing some of the weakness seen in recent sessions. The move followed management's confidence that full year performance will come in ahead of previous expectations, giving the stock fresh momentum.

Kelso advances as NAV growth accelerates

Kelso Group Holdings gained ground after publishing interim results and a trading update showing net asset value per share up 43% in the eight months to 31 August. The investment company reported net assets of approximately £15.2 million, up from £10.3 million at the start of the year, while pre-tax profit reached around £4.8 million over the same period.

The update provided another illustration of the strong performance being delivered by Kelso's concentrated portfolio strategy and the shares edged higher following the announcement. The stock has already been one of the stronger performers in the small-cap space this year and the latest figures added further support.

BP steady as chair appointment removes uncertainty

BP announced the appointment of Ian Tyler as permanent chair following an extensive search process. Tyler had been serving as interim chair since May and takes up the position immediately. The group also confirmed that Senior Independent Director Amanda Blanc intends to leave the board once a successor has been appointed.

The appointment was largely anticipated by the market and BP shares showed only limited movement following the statement. While the announcement does not alter the group's operational outlook, it removes a degree of boardroom uncertainty and completes the succession process following this year's governance upheaval.
