Woolwich plc announces that on 2 March 2000 it purchased from Credit Suisse
First Boston Equities Ltd for cancellation one million five hundred and sixty
eight thousand three hundred and eighty nine (1,568,389) of its 10p ordinary
shares at a price of 294.82 pence per ordinary share.
