Woolwich plc announces that on 5 August 1999 it purchased from Credit Suisse
First Boston Equities Ltd for cancellation two million, four hundred and
twenty-five thousand (2,425,000) of its 10p ordinary shares at a price of
333.00 pence per ordinary share.
