WINCANTON PLC ("Wincanton" or the "Company")

APPOINTMENT OF STEVE MARSHALL, CHAIRMAN

Wincanton is pleased to announce that Steve Marshall will join the Wincanton Board as non-executive Chairman with effect from 14^th December 2011.  Steve will join the Nomination and Remuneration Committees.

This follows the announcement on 9^th June 2011 that David Edmonds would be stepping down as Chairman of Wincanton when a successor had been found to work with the new management team.  David will leave the Board on 14^th December 2011 but will be available to ensure a full handover of responsibilities.

Steve is currently Chairman of Balfour Beatty plc and non-executive director of Halma plc.  He was previously chairman of Delta plc, Torex Retail plc and Queens' Moat Houses plc and prior to this he was Group chief executive of Thorn plc and then Railtrack Group plc, having served as group finance director at each company.

David Edmonds said: "I am delighted to welcome Steve to the Wincanton Board as my replacement. His skills and experience are extremely well suited to the next phase of our plan to develop further Wincanton as a leading supply chain solutions provider in the UK and Ireland markets."
