Further to the information provided in the announcement made on 19 December
2006, and in conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision
6, Whitbread PLC is required to notify the market of the following:



At the close of business on 19 January 2007, Whitbread PLC had 197,486,819
ordinary shares in issue, of which 761,816 ordinary shares were held in
Treasury.  Therefore, the total number of voting rights in Whitbread PLC was
196,725,003.  The ordinary shares have a nominal value of 76 122/153p each.



The above figure of 196,725,003 shares may be used by shareholders as the
denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are
required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest, in
Whitbread PLC under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency rules.
