WEIR GROUP ANNOUNCES THE RESIGNATION OF ITS CHIEF EXECUTIVE

The  Board  of  The Weir Group PLC announces that the  company's
Chief Executive, Duncan Whyte, has resigned as a director and is
leaving the company with immediate effect.

A search has been initiated for a new Chief Executive and in the
meantime,  Sir  Ron  Garrick has assumed the role  of  Executive
Chairman.

At  the same time David Dunbar, Executive Director in charge  of
the  Pump  Division,  will assume the role  of  Chief  Operating
Officer.

Sir Ron Garrick said:

'After  much deliberation, the Board concluded that a  different
style  of  leadership was required to realise the full potential
of  the Group.  Duncan Whyte leaves with our best wishes for his
future.

'David  Dunbar's appointment and my additional involvement  will
allow  us  to  focus on increasing shareholder value  from  both
existing  operations  and the implementation  of  our  strategy,
whilst  seeking to appoint a new Chief Executive at the earliest
opportunity'.
