      Adjournment of the Annual General Meeting ('AGM') on 21 June 2001

Further to the announcement of 18 June 2001, the Board of United Overseas
Group plc, announces that today's AGM has been adjourned until further notice.

The Board expects to write to shareholders in early July reconvening the AGM
for a date to coincide with a proposed Extraordinary General Meeting.
