Electra Investment Trust Plc announces that on 26 January 2005 the Company
purchased for cancellation 2,238,072 ordinary shares of 25p each at a price of
£8.60 per share representing 4.79% of the issued share capital.



Following this transaction the Company now has 44,507,687 ordinary shares in
issue.
