In accordance with Listing Rule 15.9, Electra announces that on 17 December 2003
it purchased for cancellation 50,000 Ordinary Shares of 25p each at a price of 
660p per Ordinary Share.

Following this transaction Electra has 65,109,533 Ordinary Shares of 25p in
issue.
