Successful Realisation

Electra Investment Trust PLC 19 July 2000 ELECTRA INVESTMENT TRUST MAKES SUCCESSFUL REALISATION Electra Investment Trust ('Electra') announces the partial realisation of its interest in Agricola, the holding company of BOCM Pauls, through a refinancing funded by Bank of Scotland. BOCM Pauls is the UK's largest producer of animal feed. Electra acquired its original interest in Agricola in November 1998 when it invested £18.3 million in the buy-out of BOCM Pauls. In April 2000 £6.0m of loan stock was repaid to Electra. As a consequence of the refinancing announced today, Electra has received cash proceeds of £30.8 million together with redeemable securities in Agricola valued at £14.4m and ordinary shares representing 8.3 per cent of the fully diluted share capital leaving management of Agricola with a majority shareholding. Total proceeds of the investment represent a multiple of 3 times over a period of 20 months. Realisation proceeds will be used to reduce bank borrowings. Based on the valuation of Agricola included in Electra's interim accounts as at 31 March 2000 these transactions represent an uplift in Electra's net asset value of 34p per ordinary share. Note The increase in net asset value referred to above is based upon the 80,559,959 shares in Electra in issue following completion of the Tender Offer at the end of June 2000, full details of which were announced on 4 July 2000.
