TEMPLETON EMERGING MARKETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC ("TEMIT")


On behalf of TEMIT, Franklin Templeton Investment Management Limited make the
following announcement:-


Total Voting Rights and Share Capital


In conformity with the Transparency Directive's transitional provision 6, the
following information is notified to the market:

TEMIT's share capital consists of 535,981,593 issued ordinary shares of 25 pence
each with each share carrying the right to one vote.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights in TEMIT is 535,981,593.

The above figure (535,981,593) may be used by shareholders as a denominator for
the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify
their interest in, or a change to their interest in, TEMIT under the FSA's
Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
