                             RETIREMENT OF DIRECTOR


The board of T. Clarke plc ('T. Clarke'), the electrical engineering and
contracting company today announces Barry Buchanan has announced his intention
to retire as a Director of the Group. He will be leaving the Group with effect
from 31 March 2004. Barry joined the Group in 1965, he was appointed Managing
Director of T. Clarke (Midlands) Limited in 1981 and he was appointed Director
in 1990.

Pat Stanborough, Chief Executive commented,

' Barry has been a very valuable asset to the Group. I would like to take this
opportunity to wish him all the very best in his retirement and thank him for
all his hard work and dedication during his 38 year career with T. Clarke.'
