Sale of Screenbase Limited


Yule Catto announces that the sale of Screenbase Limited ('the Company') to
Komfort Office Environments PLC (a subsidiary of SIG PLC) was completed on
Monday, 30 October 2000.

The company, which manufactures free-standing screen systems, was sold for a
provisional consideration of £8 million, paid in cash at completion,
representing a premium of £6.32 million to the estimated value of the net
assets being transferred at completion.  The provisional consideration may be
modified to reflect the actual value of net assets transferred.

Commenting on the transaction, Alex Walker, Chief Executive said:

'Twelve months ago we purchased the remaining 50% of Synthomer, a speciality
synthetic latex business, from our joint venture partner. Subsequently, we
embarked on a programme to reshape Yule Catto into a more focused Speciality
Chemical group through the sale of our Building Products division and it is
pleasing to report that with this transaction the cumulative proceeds from
disposals have surpassed our original target.'

The sale proceeds from this transaction will be used to reduce borrowings.
