Synchronica signs deal with mobile operator in the Dominican Republic 

Synchronica plc (AIM: SYNC), the mobile e-mail and synchronisation specialist, is pleased to announce that it has signed a contract with an initial value of approximately US$250,000 with the subsidiary of a leading mobile operator group ('the Operator') in the Dominican Republic.

The contract is the first deal secured by the Company with the Operator, which will use Synchronica's market leading product, Mobile Gateway 4.0, to deliver mobile email to their entire user base. The service will include the new email-to-SMS and email-to-MMS functionality of Mobile Gateway 4.0 in order to provide mobile email to even the most basic handsets which continue to dominate this market. Synchronica will also provide professional services, support and hosting to the Operator.

With broadband and PC penetration still very restricted across Latin America, Mobile Gateway offers users access to email from their mobile phones and can provide a key pillar for a mobile Internet strategy. According to Fitch Ratings, Latin American telecoms operators remain healthily positioned in the current economic climate thanks to strong cash flow generation, moderate-to-low leverage and generally good debt maturity profiles.
