New website to support domestic sales at Cobre

The Board of Strategic Minerals Plc (AIM: SML; USOTC: SMCDY) is pleased to announce it has released a new website for its wholly owned subsidiary, Southern Minerals Group, which operates the Company's Cobre asset in New Mexico, United States of America. The purpose of the website is to raise exposure of the Company's products to support domestic sales of magnetite iron ore from Cobre. This is in line with the Company's previously stated strategy of focusing on building up domestic sales and expanding its customer base.

Executive Chairman, Mr Julien Mcinally, stated: "In the past, domestic sales at our Cobre operation have been initiated through word of mouth.  This new website provides the electronic exposure to raise our profile in-country, potentially diversify our customer base, communicate the products that we have available and assist potential customers with finding us."

The Company has also been working to increase the value of the Cobre asset by reviewing the opportunity to produce a higher value product for sale to the dense media market and other markets. This provides another opportunity to expand our customer base and unlock the value from our existing portfolio.

In addition, the company is currently evaluating a number of acquisition opportunities in commodities such as tin, copper, iron ore, gold and other high value strategic minerals with a focus on projects that can be monetised quickly.  As well, the Company is reviewing some larger projects in these strategic minerals that the Company believes can be funded via joint venture arrangements.

The Company's strategy is to build a diversified portfolio of cash generating high quality strategic minerals operations and near term mining projects in jurisdictions where returns are commensurate with risk.
