London, 13 August 2007 - Serica Energy plc (TSX Venture & AIM: SQZ) announces
the award of options over the Company's ordinary shares.

Under the terms of the Serica Share Option Plan, approved by shareholders at the
Company's recent Annual General Meeting, the following options over Ordinary
Shares in the Company have been granted:
