Senior PLC 23 October 2001 23 October 2001 SENIOR SELLS TWO INDUSTRIAL BUSINESSES Senior plc ('Senior'), the international manufactuting group, is pleased to announce that it has sold its industrial operations in Australia and New Zealand to Tyco Flow Control Pacific Pty Ltd ('Tyco') for a total consideration of £1.6m. The disposal, effected through the sale of 100% of the share capital of Senior Flexonics Australia Pty. Limited and Senior Flexonics New Zealand Limited, is expected to give rise to a profit on sale of £0.4m after costs of disposal. In the nine months to 30 September 2001, the total profit before interest and tax of the two operations was £0.2m on turnover of £2.7m. The sale proceeds will be used to reduce the Group's borrowings. Commenting on the disposal, Graham Menzies, Group Chief Executive said: 'The Australian and New Zealand industrial operations are both well managed profitable companies with strong market positions. I am sure they will fit well with Tyco's existing operations. The proceeds from the sale, which is in line with Senior's strategy to focus on its Aerospace and Automotive businesses, will contribute to the Group's ongoing debt reduction programme'.
