ISSUE OF EQUITY

The Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust PLC (the "Company") announces that it has allotted and issued, conditional only on admission to listing on the UKLA's Official List and to trading on the London Stock Exchange, a further 465,000 Ordinary shares of £0.25 each at a price of £8.00 per share.  It is expected that the new shares will be admitted to listing and to trading at 8.00 a.m. on 16 January 2013. Following this issue, the Company will have 30,678,650 Ordinary shares in issue.
