Repurchase of ordinary shares for cancellation

The Scottish American Investment Company plc announces that on 25 March 2003 it
purchased for cancellation 110,000 ordinary shares in the market at a price of
118.5p per ordinary share and 50,000 ordinary shares in the market at a price of
118p per ordinary share. There remain 136,507,943 ordinary shares in issue.
