Repurchase of ordinary shares for cancellation

The Scottish American Investment Company plc announces that on 14 November
2001 it purchased for cancellation 300,000 ordinary shares in the market at a
price of 191p per ordinary share and 50,000 ordinary shares at a price of 190p
per ordinary share. There remain 148,254,943 ordinary shares in issue.
