Purchase of Shares For Cancellation

Schroder Oriental Income Fund Limited (the 'Company') announces that on 18 July 2008 the Company purchased 294,000 shares for cancellation at a price of 94.36 pence per share. Following this purchase, there are a further 155,239,000 shares in issue. The Company does not hold any shares in treasury.

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
