Schroder Japan Growth Fund plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Gibbs as an independent non-executive Director of the Company, with effect from 1 February 2016.

Alan worked for the Fleming Group in Hong Kong, London and Singapore from 1974 to 1991, with responsibility for investments in Japan and throughout the Far East. For the next 14 years he helped set up and run two Far Eastern brokerages, before joining J.O. Hambro (latterly Waverton) Investment Management in 2005, where he ran Far Eastern funds, and is a Director. He has been Chairman of an educational trust, and is now Chairman of a nursing charity, the Burdett Trust, which he was instrumental in founding 15 years ago.  He is also an independent non-executive Director of the M&G Charibond Charities Fixed Interest Common Investment Fund (Charibond) and a member of the Advisory Committee of the M&G Equities Investment Fund for Charities (Charifund).

It is confirmed that there are no other details to be disclosed concerning Mr Gibbs under Listing Rule 9.6.13 R.
