                      New Non-Executive Director Appointed

Henderson TR Pacific Investment Trust plc announces the appointment of Mr David
Robins age 53 as a non-executive director, with effect from 2 December 2002.

David was Chief Executive Officer and subsequently Chairman of ING Barings from
1998 to 2000 and previously held senior management roles within the UBS Group.

His early career from 1976 to 1986 was as an economist initially with The Bank
of England and then with James Capel, Philips & Drew and UBS with
responsibilities focused mainly on Japan and the Far East, including a
secondment in Tokyo for two years. He is currently a director of Meggitt PLC,
the London Clearing House Limited and other companies and also holds various
Trustee positions for charities.
