                  Chairman's AGM Statement
       - Good investment opportunities in the Far East
                              

Henderson  TR  Pacific Investment Trust plc, a  leading  Far
East Investment Trust, held its Annual General Meeting today
at 12:30pm.

At  the  meeting,  all  resolutions  were  duly  passed,  in
particular  resolutions  8  and 9  were  passed  as  special
resolutions.

Mr Iain Dale, Chairman, told shareholders:

'At  the  time  of the Preliminary Results  in  February,  I
stated  that we expected the recovery in Far East  economies
to  be  sustained,  helped by an expected  strengthening  in
global  growth.  This remains the case and as we  anticipate
further  growth  in  the Far East economies,  we  are  fully
invested.'

'Since  the  year end the company's net assets  have  at  31
March  2000 risen by 5.6% to 132.9p per share and the  share
price  remained  firm  at  117.5p per  share,  although  the
discount  widened to 11.6%.  The benchmark  index  over  the
same period fell by 2.9%.'

'As  we  believe  the markets in which we invest  will  move
firmly  higher, we are very confident about the  medium  and
long term prospect in the Far East.'
