                            APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR

Walker Greenbank PLC ('the Company'), the wallcoverings and furnishing fabrics
group, is pleased to announce that following discussions with its largest
shareholder, The Union Discount Company of London Limited, Peter Gyllenhammar
has today been appointed as a non-executive director of the Company.

Mr Gyllenhammar, 50, will fill the role of Deputy Chairman of the group and will
bring with him his extensive international investment experience and knowledge
of the group's market sector.

His current and past directorships are listed below. For the purposes of
disclosure under Schedule 2(f) of the AIM rules, he was a director of Reece Plc
to which administrators were appointed in November 2001 and which was
subsequently liquidated, and also a director of Browallia UK Limited which was
solvent when it was dissolved.

The Union Discount Company of London Limited is the holder of 17,680,728
ordinary 1p shares in the Company, representing 29.96% of the total issued share
capital.
