Rolls-Royce PLC 5 September 2000 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS EIGHT NEW MARINE CONTRACTS Rolls-Royce plc has won eight new marine contracts for vessel concept, design and supply of integrated propulsion systems for offshore vessels. With these new contracts, Rolls-Royce now has 28 offshore vessels on its order books, 19 of which have been won this year. Bob Sunerton, Managing Director - Marine, for Rolls-Royce said: 'Activity in the offshore specialist vessels market is on the increase and this is a sector in which we are very competitive. These new contracts are a further example of our ability to supply customers with complete marine solutions - from design to propulsion systems and steering gear. 'Today's new orders underpin our marine business strategy to supply total systems solutions to this growing market. We expect to enter into further contracts in the near future. Following our acquisition of Vickers last year, the marine business of Rolls-Royce is now the largest supplier of marine propulsion systems and equipment in the world.' The eight contracts were entered into with shipyards and shipping companies from around the world. They contain a comprehensive range of ship equipment that Rolls-Royce can deliver, including engines, winches, propeller systems, steering gear, rudders, bulk handling and automation systems.
