Stmnt re Classroom 2000

RM PLC 13 December 2000 RM plc - confirms unable to agree terms for Classroom 2000 RM, the leading supplier of ICT to UK education, confirms that it has been unable to agree acceptable commercial terms in relation to the Classroom 2000 PFI project in Northern Ireland and that negotiations have ended. RM's results for the year ended 30 September 2000 included an exceptional provision against expenditure incurred during the year in connection with Classroom 2000. RM confirms that, as reported in the preliminary results announcement in November 2000, spend on the project had been reduced to be accommodated within normal sales and marketing levels and that no revenue or contribution from Classroom 2000 had been built into the plan for the current year. Richard Girling, Chief Executive of RM plc, commented, 'We have invested considerable effort to design an exciting and innovative ICT solution for schools in Northern Ireland. So it is, of course, disappointing to finally report that we have been unable to agree on commercial terms. 'However, RM is already the leading supplier of ICT solutions to schools in Northern Ireland and we expect to remain so. We believe that investment in educational ICT in Northern Ireland will continue and that RM is well placed to benefit.'
