AGM Statement



At today's Annual General Meeting Alan Jackson, Executive Chairman of The
Restaurant Group plc, will make the following comments on current trading:



'We are encouraged by performance so far this year with a like-for-like sales
increase of 3% for the Principal Trading brands in the 20 weeks to 22 May. This
bodes well for a good first half performance.



We have opened 4 new Frankie & Benny's restaurants and 1 new Chiquito's so far
this year where initial indications of trading are very encouraging. Our new
openings programme this year is weighted towards the latter part of the year. In
total, we expect to open in excess of 25 new units during 2005.



We are pleased with the performance of the Group and we look forward to
reporting further good progress for the first half of the year, in September.'
